English language challenges

This semester, as before the last semester i think that learning english has been an interesting experience but i dont like the way in which the programme try to teach me to speak, understand or inclusive write. In blog’s case i like write but i don’t like write about a predefined theme, i feel like that some that i like is converted into an obligation and how i need to say specific things about anything instead of say some that i really think about the theme. Also i fell like english schedule take up time for another things like the “practice time” of Simulation in some cases, or study because i leave the university rhater late.

Also i think that “this english” is not like i need, i mean, i feel that i need more about technical language and reading comprehension for read the lots of papers that some subjects give to me so i think that maybe that need to be improve in the future  together with  the Schedule (who decides the Schedule should consider the practice time and choose others days for example). For the blogs, maybe they serve for practice the writing but if they could be about free themes will be better.

Outside the english class i don’t use the english so much, only use it for read some papers or documents that i need for the others subjects and when i see a movie or series i like to see them in english and listen the real voices of the characters but if you pay attention for the subtitles some times they are really bad and you need to listen for understand. Beyond that i don`t use english but i think that is because i live in a country where we speak spanish and few people speak english but they don`t need to use it.

Changes to my study programme

I have only had two years of odontology and subjects so i can´t say a lot about the subjects but I can say about that the subjects that I have now (and had the last year) that around the 50 percent of they was and are “challa” (I mean that I believe that they are completely unnecessary) for example: the last year I had infotecnology… what it is? A subjet about power point, Photoshop and nothing else, nothing new… other subject that I think was a loss of time was “society and culture”  we literally planted strawberries and saw movies like Totoro. This year the “challa” subjet that I have is OBE that is a subject about how search information and where. On the other hand the last year I had anatomy and BAYB that are basic subjest for the acquire of knowledge, and this year I have Simulation and Diagnostic that are an approximation to the clinical reality and they serve to develop our skills and maybe that should be more important that have a Photoshop class, If I could change something i chose have more subjects that are related with my career and eliminate the thing that maybe we will never use it again.

I think that my time the last year was more that in this year because the subjects of the first year had not been a major burden (exclude Anatomy and BAYB), instead this year in Diagnostic and Simulation we have to study almot 30 classes for only one test, and they are not short classes, are really BIG. In the case of diagnostic is more easy because the teachers teach well (although study 30 classes take a lot of time and days without sleep) but in Simulation the situation it’s really complicated, in first place the teachers are completely subjetives in the evaluations of our abilities in the practical tests, one day you can have a 70 and to the next day you can will reprobate your test, so I like that in the future that can be regulated with guidelines or something like that. In simulation also the teaching method are so differents, the teachers only talk in class and we need putting into practice all that without see how do it in the real life, and maybe the teachers should show us although once how do the things.  Other problem in simulation is the time, is not enough to finish all the program and that should be change.

The laboratories or “Salas de paso” that we use in simulation are in poor conditions, always some breaks or doesn’t functioning, and we don’t have enough materials. We need more fund for improve the conditions and learn better, especially because in odontology we use a lot the technology like the turbine, and if the air compressor doesn’t serve, what we can do?.

In short, I think that my career needed a lot of improvement in the two first years, and I can imagine the next years if this is just beginning…💔

Summer Holidays

This summer i was thinking find a work but how i probably will not be finished my clases in time (my last test is in january) i have decided to that maybe i can go to the south after my last test. I would like to visit Chillán where lives the family of my father, my grandmother  have a land a few kilometers of Chillán.

In this time i would like go to Chillán with some friends of the university.  In summer with my family often go to a lake that is in the back of the house and i think that is a good place to take to my Friends. Also, near of Chillán, in the city of Quellón, exist a celebration to use the tomatoes that are in bad conditions; the celebration is called “War of tomatoes” and how the name suggests, the people go to a type of “stadium” where farmers collect tons of tomatoes and when sounds a chime, start to throwing tomatoes between them and i think that will be fun and relaxing.

Chillán also have the “Spa of Chillán” and the people that i know that has gone to the spa, say to me that is a good place and i need to visit it and i think that after spend a year in the university, always is welcome the idea of go to some place where i can relax and enjoy without think in tests, reports or get up early.

Recommending: "The kingkiller Chronicle"

Each time that a person ask me for a book that maybe they should read, i always say “The kingkiller Chronicle” without thinking.

The kingkiller chronicle is a trilogy by Patrick Rothfuss , the first book "The name of the wind" was published in 2007 and the second book “The  Wise man’s fear” was published in 2011. The third book “The doors of Stone” Will be published in the course of this year.

The history is about Kvothe talking about him past and how he tansformed in a legend. Kvothe pretended was someone else when a chronicler find him working in a tavern and ask him for his histor and then Kvothe begins to related his history.

 The history taking place in a fantasy world in some like medieval times where we can found villages and places like Tarbean (the capital), Vintas, The university and others. Kvothe was part  of a family of Edena Ruh, a itinerant court of artist like actors, circus arts and musicians. One day he retired to the forest and when he back with him group all they have been assassinated by seven mysterious characters: “the Chandrian”, the evil force that the people think was only a legend. When Kvothe saw his family dead decided find the culprits and for that he needs go to The university and learn about alchemy, the control of the elements like the wind and then take revenge. In the course of the history while kvothe learn how defeat to The Chandrian, he lives differents adventures that gave to him the fame of Kingkiller, dragons killer, thief and hero.

I recommend it because is a very good history with lots of creativity, the narrative is awesome and the magic world is like another that you can see before, have a similar style  to “The lord of the rings” with communities and Kvothe is a really powerfull.

Postgraduate studies.

The last year i thought that my actual pregraduate course would be the only career related with odontology i could study, because i did not like this career at that time, but now i like it and i have been thinking that i will, of course, continuate with this in some area. My options are maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics or pathology in odontology. My reasons to consider these options are because i think that these specialities are the most interesting of all the odontology, if you think in oral rehabilitation inmediately you imagine prosthesis (without detracting this speciality) but if you think in maxillofacial surgery for example, you can consider facial reconstructions of fractures caused by accidents , in pathology we have many diseases that we must learn to differenciate and in orthodontics you change completely the smile of one person with mechanical tools, and all related with these themes i would like to know and learn (surgery, occlusion, physics, diseases, etc.).

I would like study one of these specialties in University of Chile or  the University of Sao Paulo School of dentistry in Brazil but i am still not sure. I would like study with a part-time system because so i could study and work at the same time and have money to live decently and pay my studies if i can’t get a grant.

In any case i have much time to determine what i would like study, maybe after ending this career i shall take a little time to think about it.

My favourite animal

Raccoons are definitely my favourite animal after cats. I have decided talk about raccoons  instead of cats because cats are more common than raccoons so i think that would be boring talk about cats.

The raccoon is an animal native to North America, raccoons are nocturn animals, omnivorous, dextereous and have a facial mask that give them a cute appearence of a sgrounger although in reality they are xd 😈. The fur of raccoons is  reddish brown or grey and the tails have around four or ten black rings.

  

Raccoons are very intelligents so they can solve tasks and remember the solution for years. They can stand on their back lengs and use their front lengs to take things. The people think that raccoons are lonely animals but they can group according to gender as the case may be.

I like raccoons beacuse they are like cats (yes mainly for that) but are cats that can take things with their lengs 💓. Also they can be loving with persons that they know or another animals, inclusive raccoons can give hugs and i think that is very cute. If i could have one definitely i have it, is a pity that there are not in Chile and probably they are not a domestics animals.

My future job

Well I have never been an idea about my future job, but currently I am studying to be a dentist, I am going to be a person with an indoor job, I know that because I prefer work in a room where I can get anything at the instant and I don’t like things like field trips, in odontology for example some dentists go to schools and kinder gardens and teach hygiene and I wouldn’t some like that. Who do not want to travel in their job? Obviously that I would like travel, I wished it always, and I would like have to go to business trips to international congress or inclusive travel to take postgraduate studies. I don’t know how much money I want but I hope earn a decent salary consistent with my job that will allow me pay my things, help with some of the expenses of my parents house, travel and spend in lots of books… regard to a major I have been thinking about maxillofacial surgeon or orthodontist because I like how this majors change the dynamic, form and appearance of the mouth and face for complete in a person,  like a baby with cleft lip in orthopedic (part of the orthodontics) or a person that had an accident and need a facial reconstruction in surgeon…also this specialties have a longer contact with the patient during the treatment and recovery, in others majors the contact is reduced and inclusive some treatments see the patient only one twice… is difficult for me take a decision but fortunately I have time to decide between these specialties while I finish my career.

Favourite Movie

I’ve never had a favourite movie because i think that are many kinds of categories and i feel that i can’t compare between movies that have nothing in common, so for that in this blog i only choose a movie that i think have a good history and maybe many people don’t know about it.

The movie is called “My name is Khan”, is an Indian drama film of 2010 directed by Karan Johar. The history is about Rizwan Khan who is a Muslim with Asperger’s Syndrome (or Autism). Rizwan come to live with his brother Zakir and his wife Haseena at the United States after the death of their mother and meets a Hindu woman, Mandira, that works in a hair saloon, and her son Sameer. After the September 11 attacks on the twin towers, Khan and his family begins to suffer the consequences of the racism, so he takes the decision to tell to the President of the United States that “his name is Khan and he is not a terrorist” and was only the beginning of a long and difficult adventure where Khan meets differents persons like “Jenny” and inclusive gets into trouble for reach to the President.

I like this movie because has a different plot and the role of the principal actor is impressively good like a Asperger’s person, also i like the message that the love can do anything better than the hate. I recommend it. 

The best Holidays

This week i`m going to talk about my best holidays. It was the last summer and was the first time that I traveled for a long time without my parents.  I have a friend called Nahuel that since a few years went to live to Concepción and this summer I decided travel and visit him. I went for a week to him house and invited to my friend Camila (Nahuel friend´s too) because i did not want go alone in the bus for six hours. How Camila and  I was new in the place, Nahuel was our touristic guide and together went to meet “Penco”  and  “Ramuntcho” Beach that is the most estrange beach that i know because it has a miniature island with a tree in the climb and I think that it is incredible and beautiful.

Also we visited “Talcahuano” city and a forest in “Laraquete”, met “Laguna redonda” and the “Universidad de Concepción”.  How my birthday was in the same week, we went to dance to “Casa de salud” an alternative club in Concepción and ate in a place called “La pasta de la Nona”.

 I think that this have been one of my best holidays because I saw to my old friend , I did things for first time with persons that I think are really important to me and met a new place of my country, Chile.

I would like to visit...

Like many others around the world i dream with travel and meet differents places, in fact, i would like to visit each country of the world but some places are more interesting than others, and if i have to mention some, i would like start for the nearby places like Bolivia.

I would like to visit Bolivia because i want to meet “El Salar de Uyuni” that is the biggest desert of salt of the world.

Bolivia is a country of South America and has an estimated population of 11 million, is a landlocked country bordered by Brazil, Paraguay, Chile, Perú and Argentina. Bolivia has linguistic diversity and recognizes 36 languages; I think that is a multicultural country because the culture of this country is influenciated by the Quechua and Aymara cultures.

The first thing that I would like to do the day that I meet Bolivia will be go to “El Salar de Uyuni” and see how the lots of salt and water creates the illusion of a giant mirror in the floor, inclusive in some photographs apparently the sky and the floor are the same thing.

 

I wouldn’t like live, study or work in this place, I just want meet the country like a tourist because I think that Bolivia is not a country for me… I love the beach and as is known Bolivia has not beach, also i would like to meet more places before choose some country to live, you never know… but wherever where I have my friends and my family always will be the best place to live.

My blogging experience

Since i was a child i always love write about anything but i have to confess that have to do a blog with specifics topics was more like an obligation and for that i thik that i did not like to me. When i have the freedom to write about the things that i want is more easy but write when someone tell me the topic, by contrast, is more difficult and boring. Even though that during the course i wrote almost always about predefined things i think that my writing skills improved because have to write weekly helped me to have more practice and the practice allow me write faster than before and use less the translator to search some words and its conjugated verbs. I think that maybe have to read a book in the future will help to have a better orthography, but i think that the book must be a short book because in the university i will never finish them if it will be a big book because i don't have enough time to read in my free time. I would like in the future more about things that i enjoy, like my pastimes, books, music, world places that i would like meet, my favorite actor, etc. because about these topics i know a lot, and write when you know about the topic is more easy, faster and fun.

My favorite subject this term

This term in my career i had five differents subjects but i f i have to choose between them i think that "Bases clínicas y científicas para el Diagnostico" is the chosen. As the name suggests in this subject i saw all the things that i will need to do a correct diagnosis in the future like clinical signs, the metabolism, etc and for apply the  knowledge i had to do things like reports, presentations, clinical cases and tests. I can mention some of the contents that i think are very impornants like "Blood and Hemostasis" that mean blood and the regulation of the bleeding, "Autoimmune diseases" where i saw how the deregulation of the immune system can generate diferents diseases that can affect in the human response, and "Physical exam and anamnesis" where i saw differents signs that the patient can show and how take note in the clinical record. I think that this subject likes me beacuse all is about the human body and how important is the balance of the metabolism, immune system and various factors like the genetic and the environment, and all these things can also be use daily in the common life.

When we study always need some resources that help us to learn and obtain extra information for our tests and diary practice. One of my resources is Identistry that is a web page on Instagram that  no have sections in it but it has many differents contents related with odontology. You can see videos about procedures like surgeries, preparations, techniques and reconstructions in the oral cavity or models of the oral cavity. I visit this site frequently but especially when i need to see some video that teach me how to do some procedure in my practice because in class i only learn the theorical part of this but no the mechanical and active part, so i need to see at least one time how to do all before.

I like this page because the videos in it are short and their quality is high so i can see well-defined the structures and manoeuvres that do the operator; also i like Identistry because it has images with relevant information like the anatomy of a tooth or the results of some treatments,etc. This page is not completely serious, occasionally it upload "memes" related with some events that usually happens like installed the rubber-dam of a tooth and fail in the procedure.👅

My favorite series

When people ask me for my favorite series is a very difficult work choose only one . I love a lots of series, but if i need to talk about one i think that Hannibal is the perfect choice. I meet this series around two years ago when i was looking for a new series to see during my summer holidays. This series likes me because is about a undecover canibal called Hannibal Lecter that pretends be a normal person that works like a psychologist, curiosly for that reason the people trust in him and he always know how keep the control of the situations.

Hannibal also have to one of importants detectives of the police that investigated him under his psychologic treatmet, so the police don`t suspected about him. I really enjoy series like that, i love mystery and crimes stories. In this moment i have in my mind a series called "Dare devil" because in recent times lots of people say to me that i need to see it, so i think... if a lots of people say that is a good series, maybe it really be a good series, so i will try see Dare devil in my winter holidays. Actually i am watching Flash and i think that it will be one of my three favorites series, is really fun and the protagonist is very handsome💘

                         

A photograph you like

This fotograph was taken for a friend of my friend Pajarx (the name is not him real name, but for differents reasons all called him Pajarx). In the image you can see me dress up like a Zombie-Batman and beside to me a child dress up like The Joker (zombie too). I don`t know that child but that day he asked me if his mom can take us a photograph together and then the friend of my friend take one photograph for me too. I can´t remember the exact date when it was taken, but i think that it was taken for the last zombie walk in December of the last year. The zombie walk of the last year was the first time that i did some like that and i really enjoy it although that day was a warm day to walk in the street dressed like Batman, especially for the black cape.  I like this photograph  because our costumes come from the same movie and comic "Batman", well i think you know that, and i think that is funny how i look like a giant Batman beside a miniature of The Joker. I can remember too that in that day i burn my back with the sun because the cape don`t cover my back for complete, so i have a red mark in the half of my back for some days, i think that i`m a lucky person because now i don`t have any physical consequence about that day.😆

Pets

I think that pets are more than animals, are part of our family. In my case i have a cat, my sister called it "Copito de nieve" because their body fut is fluffy and white, their eyes are light blue but their tail is complete black, its unique. I love the animals that are independents, so i don`t like the dogs (they are like kids), hamsters (they need a lot of attention), or any pet that require my excessive care. In the future i would like have a raccoon because they are so cute!, but my favorite pet always be the cat.  Cats are majestics and independents animals, they don`t need take a shower, they can get their own food, also they are discreets and mysterious animals, so i think they are perfects.  I think that an exotic pet is your decision but is important that your well-being always be first, for example, if you have a snake you should have to know the risks for you and especial cares that you need for keep safe to the animal and yourself.  Finally, the most important thing is that we need to be responsible, and always give to our pets security, friendship and lots of love.💙

                                        

My favourite piece of technology

My favourite piece of thechnology is my computer. I got it the last year for my birthday because my parents said that a computer is an important and necesary instrument for the university. I use it all days for study or wath movies online. Frecuently i use it when i stay on my bed or in the living room . I like it because is useful, i can use it for whatever like play virtual games, read, watch videos or movies and study. If i would not have a computer, i think that the study would be more difficult because i spend more time search for information on the library, but on the other hand, i spend more time with my parents  and my friends, maybe  i can read more or practice some activity instead of spend time watching anything on internet all day. I think that my computer is a vice.

                                   

Why did i choose this career

Choose a career is a very difficult decision. All we have dreams in our life, in my case, when i was a child i want to be an astronomer, i still love the stars and see the sky for the night and always imagine that we`re not alone. Two years ago, when i have to decided that i want to study, i made a list with my options like odontology, nurse's office, kinesiology and history teacher. Then i looked these options and evaluated the advantages and disadvantages and dismiss between the options. Finally i choose odontology because the idea of return the smile and self-esteem to the people makes me feel in harmony and complete. 

The first year was a challenge. A new environment, friends, subjects and the rhythm  of the university life... things that i never was lived before. I consider that i adapted quickly to the change, but i still miss sleep eight hours for the night. Wherever, i love the news subjects and the people that now is my friend and future colleague. Learn everyday is always a gratifying experience in spite of the fatigue and academy responsibilities. 

In a future i would like to study orthodontics or surgery,those specializations really concern to me,because the  grade of dedication that  requieres is awesome,is like an art 🎨.
